Delaware native Keith Mack has spent his life plugged straight into the heart of rock and roll. A celebrated guitarist with a résumé stacked with legends, Keith cut his teeth in the Rehoboth and Dewey Beach scene before chasing bigger stages in early ’80s New York City. That move changed everything.

In NYC, Keith linked up with powerhouse vocalist Patty Smyth and joined Scandal, the band behind massive hits like The Warrior and Good‑bye to You. Gold and Platinum records followed, along with worldwide tours and appearances on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve—cementing Scandal as one of the era’s defining rock acts.

Following his run with Scandal, Keith wrote songs and recorded with icons Tommy James, Lesley Gore, and Lou Christie, culminating in standout performances at Carnegie Hall with Gore and Christie. Keith then teamed up with fellow Delaware musician Ed Shockley in CRIES, recording an album for RCA that found success overseas. When the band dissolved, Keith’s phone kept ringing, leading to tours and recordings with Joe Cocker and Paul Young, plus performances on The Tonight Show (Carson and Leno), Arsenio Hall, and The Today Show.

One of Keith’s most unforgettable moments came in 1989, when Joe Cocker’s European tour made a last‑minute stop in Germany on November 12^th, a few nights after the Berlin Wall fell. Sharing the stage with Nina Hagen, BAP, Silly, and Melissa Etheridge, Keith played for a massive crowd celebrating history in real time.

Keith continued touring the U.S. with Cocker in 1990, recording a live album for Capitol Records.

In 1995, Keith produced a record, Baked Fresh Daily for Delaware Favorite Love Seed Moma Jump. 

In the early 2000s, VH1’s Bands Reunited brought Scandal back together for a one‑night reunion that ignited a full‑fledged comeback. Since then, Patty Smyth & Scandal have been back on the road, playing packed festivals and selling out shows nationwide.

Around the same time, Keith dove deep into fingerstyle guitar. The journey inspired two solo releases, Christmas Guitar and While We’re Here, showcasing a whole new side of his musicianship.

In 2013, Keith joined Cyndi Lauper for her world tour, playing unforgettable shows from Japan to Israel to Australia and a U.S. run opening for Cher. He also appeared in Front and Center Presents Cyndi Lauper, filmed live at NYC’s Highline Ballroom.

Keith co‑produced Patty Smyth’s 2015 holiday album Come On December, co‑writing three originals and reimagining classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Auld Lang Syne.

His solo album The Moment followed, featuring nine originals co‑written with Nashville songwriter John Thompson. From the mandolin‑charged opener The Secret of Fire, driven by Allman Brothers alum Johnny Neel, to the soaring ballad Kind Word and the blues‑heavy When Right Is Wrong, Keith’s voice and songwriting take center stage. Patty Smyth appears on the standout track Grace, adding another layer of history to the record.

Keith continued releasing new music in 2020, including If It’s Really True and Too Soon Gone, the latter dedicated to his late Scandal bandmate Benji King.

Most recently, Keith reunited with Ed Shockley for Shockley & Mack’s album What Happened, finally bringing long‑lost CRIES‑era songs to life. Keith has also been working with fellow Delaware R&R Society Inductee Doug James, co-producing and playing on songs that Doug has written over the years.
